Increase in theft from cars

Thursday, July 4, 2019

Dear all There has been an increase in theft from motor vehicles recently. PLEASE make sure you pull the door handle after you've locked the car to make sure it has 'locked' and that you give it a quick once over to make sure nothing is on show inside the car. A few more foot patrol officers have been requested however we could possibly do a little bit ourselves to not become a victim.

Dear all
There has been an increase in theft from motor vehicles recently. PLEASE make sure you pull the door handle after you've locked the car to make sure it has 'locked' and that you give it a quick once over to make sure nothing is on show inside the car. A few more foot patrol officers have been requested however we could possibly do a little bit ourselves to not become a victim.
Full note from our local Police officer - PC Bardsley-Smith

We have had a number of theft from motor vehicles reported to us. The areas concerned are  Canbury Park road, Manorgate road, Maybate Avenue, Coombe road, Elton road and Acre road. Please can you make residents aware about securing their vehicles properly, not having valuables on open display, not keeping cash in glove boxes, etc.

I am trying to get night duty to patrol these road when possible.

Also! As the warmer weather is upon us PLEASE don't leave any windows open when you go out. The average burglary takes 3 minutes and if you're just popping round the corner for 5 minutes or to the Co-op for ten....now maths was never my strong point but....!!!! Also - if you are burgled and the burglar gained access via an open window you could have problems claiming on insurance. Please check your policies.
And that's all from me for now I think....!
But finally - if you do see something that doesn't look, feel or sound right - please call 101 or 999.
Have a good washing weekend!
