New Year message from BRaG chair, Glen Keywood

As BRaG enters it's 10th year of existence I'm very pleased to have been nominated as Chair for another year. 2020 was such a difficult and unusual year, I’m sure you will all join me in hoping that we can start to return to normality in 2021.

BRaG was never just about fundraising, our first event in 2011 was the Royal Wedding Street party and this really set the tone for many incredible community events since then. Our recent AGM highlighted how keen we all are to return to community gatherings and events, our traditional fundraising flows from that. In the meantime we will continue to do our best in the circumstances that we have to work in. We are very lucky that we have another great committee with five new faces and some experienced heads in the key roles. We are always looking for more people on the committee so please don't feel that you have to wait for the AGM to get involved; also don't fear involvement, it really isn’t that time consuming.

In the coming weeks we will start to share details about our next few online events, we will hopefully have decided on our charities for 2021 and will have started the fundraising process. Everyone dug so deep last year, it will be hard to match, but its worth a try.

Finally, back to events. Given the current depressing headlines most of us felt that the earliest we could possibly consider a ‘live’ event this year would be the Oktoberfest. However, from here we think we can still run a successful "BRaG in Bloom" (or "Greening BRaG"), some Easter events and any other such community event that doesn’t require close physical contact, is ’safe’ and which will benefit the whole community.

If you have an idea for an event then please let us know. We really appreciate messages that you send in and do value the feedback and inspiration so please don't hesitate to get in touch at Thanks again for your support in 2020 and here's to 2021.
