More about Play Streets

London Play Streets is a project funded by the Big Lottery's Reaching Communities programme with the aim of bringing streets alive with play. You will probably remember the fun children had when the streets were closed for the street parties. Find out more about this scheme in this video and leaflet and put the date in your diary.

Play Streets simply gives children the chance to play freely and safely on their doorstep - by temporarily closing residential roads to through traffic.

It's a great opportunity for BRaG children to play freely and for residents to meet each other - all you need to do is bring a cuppa and perhaps a chair. And all we ask is that parents are responsible for their own children.

This means that during cretain limited hours the read will be closed to through traffic using 'road closed' barriers and volunteer stewards in hi-viz vests. Parked cars can be left on the streets if necessary, and residents and visitors can drive in and out at walking speed, escorted by a volunteer steward. Drivers will be fully responsible for ensuring they drive safely and carefully.

If your children are old enough, by all means send them unaccompanied, but please be aware that this isn't a 'supervised' event, so parents must take responsibility for their children in the usual way.
