Antibiotics Research UK

A new charity dedicated to fighting the threat of superbugs

How would you feel if you were told that you needed an operation, any operation, but it couldn’t be done due to the risk of death from untreatable infections? That people were starting to die again from chest infections, meningitis tuberculosis and many other diseases, just like they did in Victorian times?  Well, sadly it’s already starting to happen and by 2050 more than ten million people will be dying every year because of antibiotic resistance, more than those from cancer.

We desperately need new antibiotics, and other ways of combatting resistant superbugs, Antibiotics Research UK, led by Professor Colin Gardner, is a new charity dedicated to pulling together the work of scientists, pharmaceuticals companies, governments and above all us, citizens. They want to fund research into new drugs: revive the effectiveness of old ones and promote awareness of the issue in general.

All this needs money and I hope that you can consider supporting the charity in any way you can. The easiest way to find out more is to visit the website
